Marketing Recommendations for Filmmakers

by Tom H last modified 2007-12-06 15:55

Caachi recommends that filmmakers take some or all of the steps listed to market their films to their current and future fans.

Caachi markets to targeted online groups on your behalf but the additional filmmaker's efforts in marketing the film will ensure its success.

First, let your fans know that your film is available at Caachi by using online tools. If used correctly, they are invaluable for marketing to both current and future fans. These tools include: (1) email campaigns; (2) a film website; (3) social networking groups; and (4) blogs.

1. Email Campaigns – Email campaigns are simply emails about your film sent to people who have or may have an interest in your film. If you currently don't have mailing lists of people, start collecting emails so that you have a list of your personal fans to whom you can market your current and future films. Examples of mailing lists are:

  • Fan mailing list
  • Film cast & crew list
  • Friends and family

We strongly encourage you to do email campaigns since this is the best way to get the word out to your fans. Please contact us if you would us to send the html-email template Caachi has prepared for marketing your film. You are welcome to modify and use it in your email campaigns.

2. Official Film Website – Create a website for your film(s) and:

  • Announce that your film is available for download at Caachi and provide the URL of your film on Caachi. Caachi has 2 hyperlinked logos you can embed on your site. Place the announcement and Caachi logo in a easy to find and prominent place - usually, this is on the homepage. If you bury it on your website elsewhere, few are going to find the URL link and be able to purchase your film.
  • Related to Email Campaigns above, enable your fans to register their emails on your site so they can receive the latest news about your films. You can use these collected emails as your personal fan base for promoting your past, current and future films.

3. Embed your film's trailer on your site: You can now embed your film's trailer that plays on Caachi onto your own website (or any other website). This means that the trailer we've created can play on your website and Caachi pays for the cost of streaming the trailer. Just go to your film's webpage on Caachi and copy the html code under the "Embed Trailer" title. Then paste it into your webpage.

4. Social Networking Groups – Setting up a page for your film on social networking sites like MySpace (http://myspace.com) or Facebook (http://facebook.com) lets you accumulate a list of friends that you can communicate with about current and future films. Announce to your friends on your social networking webpage that they can download your film on Caachi and provide the URL of your film on Caachi.

5. Blogs – Start a blog. Let your audience know that your film is available for download on Caachi and provide the URL of your film on Caachi.

Let us know if you need assistance with any of the above recommendations or if you have additional marketing suggestions by contacting us at films@caachi.com.
