Plot OutlineWinner of the Audience Award & Filmmakers Trophy at Sundance (also nominated for the Grand Jury Prize). "Something Within Me" takes us into St. Augustine, a school located in the poorest section of the South Bronx. The teachers & principal decided to commit to an arts curriculum, one where the arts, especially music, were treated with the importance of any academic subject. Enrollment tripled and reading & math scores improved dramatically. Told through interviews with students, teachers, and parents - with footage of classrooms, rehearsals, performances. |
