Plot OutlineThe animated short films of Patrick Smith have been a favorite at film festivals world-wide for the last decade. For the first time his bizarre morphing style and symbolic stories of identity and emotion have been assembled onto this single DVD. Includes five animated films and 3 bonus videos: Puppet, 2006 (7 min): Through an escalating series of torture, a possessed sock puppet takes embodiment of fear, chaos, and willful self-destruction.Handshake, 2005 (5 min): An innocent greeting between two people is quickly transformed into a tangled struggle, illustrating the twists and turns of a full-fledged relationship. Delivery, 2003 (8 min): Abuse leads to rage as two friends compete for a delivered package. Was the result of this conflict worth the prize found within the box? "Delivery" deals with the realistic consequences of rage and violence, even within a cartoon setting. Drink, 2001 (5 min): In this animated film, a boy discovers a magic potion that allows him to explore the universe within himself. A sip unleashes a violent reaction, revealing a diverse cast of characters twisting and stretching their way out of one another forming a monumental pile. The boy drinks for a second time which violently transforms him again, creating a torrent even more twisted than the first, but this time in reverse order. Moving Along, 2004 (3 min ): Dark imagery of conformity takes the screen as hip hop, rhythm and poetry are visualized in the Planets’ track “Moving Along.” Bonus materials: pencil tests for Handshake and Puppet as well as an interview with the director, Patrick Smith. |
