Plot OutlineThis is the story behind the face of "the Native" who posed in a photograph with you on your last trip to Latin America. A story of a master basket weaver from a Kumeyaay village in Baja California who mobilizes her village to turn their ancient traditions into modern commodities; selling baskets north of the border for economic survival. She is both mentor and businesswoman as she walks the delicate line between product and sacred tradition, the line between self-determination and “the Native” in the photograph. |
