Filmmaker Notes Many times after our screenings, moviegoers have approached me and share with me that they have experienced similar occurrences in their home countries, as reflected in Soledad Is Gone Forever. To me, that is what makes moviemaking worthwhile.

As of March 2008, we have completed the feature length script and are looking for an experienced producer to raise financing for the film. A casting director and recognized talent are in place.
Recently, the script won the Best Screenplay Award at the Florida Media Market.

More about the filmmaker:
Mabel Valdiviezo is a partner in Haiku Films, a media company based in San Francisco (www.haikufilms.org). She has been making documentary, narrative and experimental films for nearly ten years and has recently produced POETA PAN, a segment for KQED's SPARK arts series profiling Chilean playwright Carlos Baron and Nobel Prize-winning poet and political figure Pablo Neruda. Valdiviezo is the writer of the Canadian documentary MEMORIES OF A DREAMER.

Valdiviezo is developing the feature-length film entitled SOLEDAD IS GONE FOREVER, based on her short of the same name. The feature-length script was a participant in the 2007 Sundance Producer's Conference where Valdiviezo was nominated for the Sundance International Filmmaker NHK Award. She is a recent recipient of the WIF Emerging Filmmaker Award.

Valdiviezo is former Board of Directors of the San Francisco chapter of Women In Film and Television and previous Co-Chair of NALIP, San Francisco Chapter. She is developing the romantic comedy PARALLEL LIES with partner Cesar Viana-Teague.
